Chalo Sulkies
The dorsal hitch sulky is the most comfortable sulky for the dog. The dog is not confined between two shafts. There is no weight on his back. Unlike two shaft sulkies whose harnesses are a simple strap across the back, the dorsal hitch harness is carefully and heavily padded. When you sit in the seat, you are behind the axles. Your weight pulls upwards on the dog's harness. The dog is actually lighter on his feet when pulling the sulky than when running free. The seat bolts to a slider. With the convenient handle, adjust the seat forwards or backwards such that when you sit on the seat, you lift upwards on the dog by about 9 pounds. Look at the harness while you are seated. The seat is probably in the correct position if it lifts off the dog's back about half an inch. |
